REQUIREMENTS

1. Visa Type

The most common visa type for visiting Lithuania is the Schengen short-stay visa (Type C). This visa is suitable for tourists, business travelers, and those visiting friends or family.

2. Visa Application Form

The first step is to complete the Schengen visa application form, which can be downloaded from the Lithuanian consulate or visa application center website. Fill it out carefully, ensuring all information is accurate. Incomplete forms may delay the processing of your application.

3. Valid Passport

Your passport must be valid for at least three months beyond the date you plan to leave Lithuania. It should also have at least two blank pages for visa stamps. Ensure your passport is in good condition and hasn’t expired.

4. Passport-sized Photographs

You will need to submit two recent passport-sized photographs that meet Schengen visa requirements. The photos should have a neutral expression, a white background, and should not be older than six months.

5. Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is mandatory when applying for a Schengen visa. Your insurance should cover emergency medical expenses, hospitalization, and repatriation in case of illness or injury. The minimum coverage required is €30,000, and the insurance must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in the Schengen Area, including Lithuania.

6. Proof of Accommodation

You must show proof of where you’ll be staying during your trip. This can include hotel bookings, a rental agreement, or a letter of invitation from a host in Lithuania. If you’re staying with family or friends, the host must provide a formal invitation letter and a copy of their passport or residence permit.

7. Travel Itinerary

Provide a detailed travel itinerary that includes your planned dates, locations, and activities in Lithuania. This can include booked tours, tickets to attractions, or transportation arrangements. This helps demonstrate your travel plans and the purpose of your visit.

8. Proof of Financial Means

You need to show that you have sufficient funds to cover your stay in Lithuania. This can be done by submitting bank statements, pay slips, or a letter of sponsorship if someone else is financing your trip. On average, you should have at least €50-60 per day of your stay.

9. Round-trip Flight Reservation

A flight reservation that shows your entry into and exit from Lithuania is also required. You don’t need to purchase tickets before receiving your visa, but the reservation must align with your visa application dates.

10. Visa Fee

The visa fee for a Schengen visa is typically €80 for adults and €40 for children aged 6-12. Some applicants may be eligible for reduced fees, such as students or diplomats. Always check the current visa fees at your local consulate or visa application center.

11. Additional Documents

Depending on your personal situation, you may need to provide additional documentation. For example, if you are employed, you may need to submit a letter from your employer confirming your job status and approved leave dates. Students may need to provide a proof of enrollment from their educational institution.
